Art Factory

This project was created for the Lavender Lake Art Factory international competition sponsored by SuckerPUNCH for which it won second place.

Brooklyn, New York - Given the disparate relationship between the factory typology and public place exemplified by the surrounding context, the project seeks to explore the tension between the two as an impetus for a potential hybrid type. By peeling up the ground plane and building both above and below it, the project's hollow parti allows for the extension of open space rather than its displacement, resulting in a condition that aims to extend the synthesis between the public and private domain.
